Ar. Chittrarasan is the founder and principal architect of Design Intend, a COA-registered architecture and interior design studio based in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. He founded the studio in 2014, after completing his B.Arch from Adhiyaman College of Engineering, Hosur, and working as an Associate Architect at Gensler Bengaluru from 2011 to 2014. He has personally led 85+ projects over 12 years of practice, covering residential homes, farmhouses, villas, and corporate offices across Hosur, Krishnagiri, Bengaluru, and Kerala. Every project at Design Intend is led by Chittrarasan directly.
That is not a marketing claim. It is how the studio is structured. Chittrarasan handles the design decisions, the site visits, and the client conversations at every stage. When something on site does not match the drawings, he is the one who resolves it. When a client has a question three months into construction, they reach him directly. Most of Design Intend's new work comes through referrals from previous clients, which is the clearest evidence this approach actually works.

Professional Path
Chittrarasan trained and practised before founding Design Intend. The Gensler years in particular shaped how the studio approaches execution — the standard of drawing detail, the rigour around material specification, and the expectation that construction supervision is not optional.

Architect — Suresh Goel Associates
New DelhiEarly career at Suresh Goel Associates, a large practice with institutional and infrastructure projects across India. Projects during this period included work at IIT, IISc, BITS Pilani, and Jindal City. Developed structural rigour and experience with large-scale project coordination.
Associate Architect — Gensler Bengaluru
Bengaluru, Karnataka • 2011 to 2014Joined Gensler Bengaluru as Associate Architect, one of the global firm's most active offices at the time. Led interior design projects for Chase Bank, Starbucks, and GMFI. Working within Gensler's quality and documentation standards brought a level of execution discipline that most regional practices in Hosur do not have.

Three Things That
Never Change
There are architecture practices that win awards for photographs. Design Intend is not one of them. The work is designed to be comfortable to live in, to age without constant repair, and to still feel right five years after handover. Three principles have held across every project since 2014.
The Site Comes First
Before design begins, we visit the land. Sun orientation, prevailing wind, soil conditions, neighbouring structures, setback constraints — these shape the building more than any style preference. A house placed wrong on a plot will fight its context forever. A house placed right almost designs itself.
The Brief Is the Bible
We do not impose a signature style. We design for the people who will live or work in the building. A retired couple building their final home has completely different needs from a family with young children or a company fitting out its first office. The brief tells us what the building needs to do. Everything else follows.
Good Enough Is Not Enough
Hosur has contractors who will build you something that looks fine at possession and starts showing problems two monsoons later. Design Intend uses only structural engineers and execution partners whose work we would stand behind. Our drawings are detailed enough that there is no room for improvisation on site.

When you work with Design Intend, you work with Chittrarasan. Not a project coordinator. Not a junior architect who has been briefed. Chittrarasan conducts the initial site visit, develops the design, manages the drawings, and is reachable directly during construction.
This is not common. In most architecture practices of any size, the principal meets you at the beginning and again at handover. In between, a team manages the project. Design Intend is structured differently by deliberate choice. The quality of the work depends on one person's attention across every stage. That is only possible if that person is actually there.
Most of Design Intend's new projects come from referrals. Clients who built with the studio recommend it to siblings, friends, colleagues, and employers.
